The council adopted a climate change policy last year, and now the community is encouraged to get involved in the program's next phase.
Throughout 2020, council staff host 17 community workshops and run online consultation to build a whole-of-community approach to climate action, a spokesperson for the council said.
"Council will also work closely with high schools and key sectors including health, construction and built environment, tourism and retail, agriculture and land management, and manufacturing and industry," they said.
"Residents are encouraged to register for these community workshops and also have their say in an online survey."
The climate action plan will develop place-based actions that respond, adapt and build resilience to the changing risks impacting the community, council assets, infrastructure and the environment for the entire region.
The next two workshops will be held on:
- Wednesday, March 11, at Doyalson-Wyee RSL Club, from 6pm-8pm; and
- Tuesday, March 24, at Hamlyn Terrace Community Centre, from 6pm-8pm.
