It's part of a shift from Lake Mac Libraries and the Museum of Art and Culture to presenting more programs online to help engage and enrich the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lake Macquarie City Council arts, culture and tourism manager Jacqui Hemsley said moves were under way for other programs traditionally provided face-to-face to be presented as a live-stream via online services such as Zoom.
"We've been planning to digitise our learning content and resources for some time," Ms Hemsley said.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has presented a need and opportunity to expedite this process."
Ms Hemsley said some of the artists and other local talent already booked for in-person school holiday workshops would instead be engaged to provide online videos or webinars.
"We're hoping to live-stream art classes, for example," Ms Hemsley said.
"These services are the next-best thing to being there in person. People can interact, they can see what's happening live and they can feel engaged with their community."
Mayor Kay Fraser said Lake Mac Libraries and MAC were doing their best to mimic services they would normally provide, using their online platforms.
"It's not always possible, but the teams behind these important services are constantly evolving and innovating during this challenging period to do everything they can," Cr Fraser said.
