The student attends Kincumber High School which will be closed from today, Wednesday, April 1, as a result of the confirmed case.
NSW Health experts will immediately begin the contact tracing process.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast, Adam Crouch, said all students and staff at the school had been asked to self-isolate until the contact tracing process has been completed.
"Obviously the safety and wellbeing of students and staff is of paramount important to the NSW Government," Mr Crouch said.
"The NSW Department of Education and NSW Health will continue to work closely to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to."
A spokesperson for the school told ABC Radio the school would be extensively cleaned, and the plan was to re-open on Thursday.
