Central Coast Council said it took the decision in order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 in the community.
The closure would also limit the need for residents to travel, and minimise contact and ensure services were still being provided, the council said in a statement.
The essential waste vehicles include those operated by council's household waste collection trucks, commercial waste contractors, and small businesses.
Other Central Coast waste facilities have also been impacted.
Kincumber waste management facility is closed until further notice.
Woy Woy Waste Management Facility will also be closed to the public from Monday, but remain open for waste collected only by essential waste vehicles.
For these essential waste vehicles, Woy Woy and Buttonderry waste facilities will be open:
- Monday to Friday, from 7am to 4pm; and
- Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 8am to 4pm.
The standard types of waste and gate fees apply.
"Council's existing household waste collection service, three-bin and bulk kerbside service will continue as usual," a council spokesperson said.
Normal bulk kerbside booking and limits on material apply. See 1coast.com.au.
"Residents can also store non-decaying waste material onsite until the current restrictions end, or they can use a commercial waste collection or skip bin service to dispose of additional waste."
