The first Late MAC session this Friday, March 6, will feature a ceramic painting workshop with acclaimed artist Fuschia Sable (the alter ego of artist Bridie Watt), wine and beer, a grazing table and live performances by Triple J Unearthed musician Bodie Werleman.
Lake Macquarie City Council arts, culture and tourism manager Jacqui Hemsley said MAC's gallery, featuring three separate exhibitions, would also be open for guests to browse throughout the session from 6pm to 9pm.
"This program is part of making MAC more than a daytime art gallery," Ms Hemsley said.
"Our city's artistic flair and culture isn't confined to regular business hours, and nor should its premier cultural venue."
The site formerly known as Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery reopened as MAC in November after a $2.3 million makeover.
Ms Hemsley said the rebranding was more than just giving MAC a new name.
"What the community wants from a venue like this is changing, and we need to constantly evolve and adapt to keep up with those desires," Ms Hemsley said.
Tickets to the first Late Mac session cost $15 and include food, entertainment, the ceramic painting workshop and a drink on arrival.
Another Late MAC evening is scheduled for Friday, May 1.
Extra drinks can be purchased at the venue.
