The last-placed Mariners are coming off a 2-nil loss to Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium on Saturday.
It was a familiar story for the Central Coast team: despite dominating long parts of the game the Mariners had nothing to show for it on the scoreboard.
Late goals to George Blackwood and Mohamed Toure secured a win for the Reds.
In the Central Coast's 4-3 loss to Newcastle Jets the previous week, new signing Chris Harold scored for the Mariners on his debut.
That earned him a spot in the Central Coast's starting line-up against the Reds.
He was joined by Josh Nisbet and Michael McGlinchey in the starting eleven.
Sydney FC leads the competition ladder with 40 points and has scored wins in its previous five outings.
Central Coast Mariners remain at the foot of the ladder with 13 points, and have lost their last five games.
