Shortly before 11.30am the Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded to reports of an injured mountain bike rider in heavily timbered bushland at Ourimbah.
Once the helicopter landed on scene, a 4WD was used to transport the helicopter's critical care medical team into the bush where the injured man had been found.
"It was later learnt that a second rider had also been injured in a separate accident," Graham Nickisson, of the Northern NSW Helicopter Rescue Service's operational media team, said.
"Both patients were treated and stabilised on scene by NSW paramedics and the medical team."
The second patient was taken by road ambulance to hospital with possible fractured ribs, Mr Nickisson said.
