ELECTRONIC music act Predator will headline a day of live music, lights, lasers and surfing for under-18s at Lake Macquarie next month.

The new event was announced today by Lake Macquarie City Council as part of Surfest's Lake Mac City Pro Junior weekend at Redhead.
Redhead Pump will be held at Webb Park, on Saturday, February 8.
It would feature electronic music act Predator, Daft Punk tribute show Discovery, and local The Voice finalist Lara D, as well as a visual feast featuring lights, lasers and smoke, the council said.
Council's arts, culture and events manager Jacqui Hemsley said the event would capitalise on young crowds already heading to Redhead Beach for the Lake Mac City Pro Junior.
"Redhead Pump will create a real festival atmosphere, where young people can surf by day and party by night," Ms Hemsley said.
"This will be a parent-free event, with only under-18s allowed through the gate. We'll be ensuring it's a secure and safe evening with security guards, a police presence and a no pass-outs policy."
The event will run from 5pm to 9pm and have a beach party theme in keeping with the beachside location and surf contest weekend.
Predator tours Australia with a mix of house, trap and hip hop, delivering a high-energy performance decked out in neon suits and masks inspired by the titular 1980s action classic movie.
Electronic music duo Damian Andres and Matt Campbell, aka Discovery, pay tribute in look and sound to Daft Punk, cherry-picking tracks from the French act's Grammy-nominated back catalogue.
Lara D performed at Lake Mac Carols last month, but will bring an edgier sound to her Redhead Pump set.
Surfest coordinator Warren Smith congratulated council on introducing a new youth event to coincide with the booming Lake Mac City Pro Junior.
"Redhead Pump is the perfect fit to welcome Lake Mac City Pro Junior competitors and spectators to Lake Macquarie," Mr Smith said.
Food and non-alcoholic drinks will be available at the event.

Tickets will also be on sale at the event, unless sold out prior.
