Mrs Chaffer was recently presented with the Gold Award from Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCRF) in recognition of her dedicated support of the charity.
"Mrs Chaffer has volunteered for many years and given countless hours to raising much-needed funds for the charity which believes 'every child deserves a chance of a healthy life'," Gorokan-Kanwal Lions Club's publicity officer Lynda Elsley said.
Every year more than 124,000 Australians are diagnosed with cancer.
The Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation was established in 1984 to fill a gap in scientific funding into cancer research by providing research equipment, technology and infrastructure needed to research the prevention, diagnosis and treatment for all types of cancer.
Gorokan-Kanwal Lions Club president Henry Burgoyne presented the award to Mrs Chaffer.
