Transport for NSW said safety improvements will be carried out in the northbound lanes.
The work will include the installation of roadside and median safety barriers, along with new signs to provide warning to motorists of queueing ahead.
"To minimise impact to motorists, work will be carried out between 7pm and 5am from Sunday to Thursday, weather permitting," a spokesperson for Transport for NSW said.
"The work is expected to be completed by December, weather permitting."
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40kph will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and to follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
