The Teralba Fishing Club Catch-and-Release Junior Fishing Tournament will be held on Sunday, November 3.
Tournament coordinator Ian Guy said the fishing club was rapt to have TV presented and keen angler, Michael Guest, of Reel Action TV, support the competition.
"Every junior who enters will receive a goodie bag with a hat, brag mat, wristband, coloured pencils and pencil case, plastic poncho, colouring book, stickers, safety information, floating key ring and Shimano catalogue in a reusable bag," Mr Guy said.
"And the first 40 juniors who register will receive a bonus neck buff.
"All juniors will also go in the draw for a prize pack valued at more than $200 which was donated by Michael Guest who has also donated the free gifts."
The tournament is a team event, with teams of up to four children invited to register. Each team must have an adult manager.
The first 10 managers to register will receive a Coopers cooler bag.
"It's a catch-and-release tournament, so managers will have a catch register and will be asked to photograph the catches," Mr Guy said.
"But the juniors don't have to catch a fish to go in the prize draw, or to win the additional prizes. They only have to get out there and have a go."
Each team is allowed to enter a maximum of 20 catches, and each individual can enter a maximum of five catches.
"This is to ensure it's a team effort," Mr Guy said.
Schools, fishing clubs and sporting clubs have been invited to get their teams together and register. Teams could also be formed from within families, or even from children in your street.
There is a secondary schools section of the tournament which is open to enrolled students up to the age of 16.
A pre-tournament meeting for anglers and their managers will be held at Teralba Bowling Club on Friday, November 1, from 5pm to 6pm.
Jason Nunn, a local angler and manager of Marks Point Fisherman's Warehouse, will give a session of tips and tricks for the weekend, Mr Guy said.
Cooranbong Public School has two teams entered.
The school's No 1 team features the current outside junior fishing champion for Teralba Lakesiders Fishing Club, Eva Guy, 8.
"Eva and her team would love to issue a challenge for other schools in the area to register and take them on," Mr Guy said.
Entries will be accepted up to 6pm on Friday, October 25.
Entry forms are available from the club and by emailing Michelle at dangeranger@optusnet.com.au or Ian at ian.guy&westnet.com.au
