A man has been charged with assault after he allegedly struck a police officer in Lake Haven last night.

About 10pm, an officer from Tuggerah Lakes Police District attended a car park on Bannister Drive, Lake Haven, when he saw a man wanted in connection with an investigation into domestic violence offences.
The 20-year-old man was arrested, and while being taken to the police car, he allegedly punched the officer to the forehead and attempted to escape.
"While he was being restrained, he allegedly struck out at the officer who defended himself and sustained an injury to his hand," police said in a statement.
"The man allegedly continued to resist and the officer used OC spray to secure him."
He was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with resist officer in execution of duty, common assault, common assault (domestic violence), and two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.
The man was given conditional bail to appear at Wyong Local Court.
