He had spent some time training at the Catalina base at Rathmines and decided to move to the Toronto/Carey Bay area at the end of World War II.
Is wasn't until the early 1950s that the local demand for tractors turned to motor cars, so Chas started selling them too.
Over the years Triggs progressed through selling BMC to Land Rover, Triumph, Rover and MG - as well as continuing to sell chains saws, lawn mowers and even go-karts for a time.
In 1972, Chas retired, and the business was split between sons Dennis and Steven. Steven took over the machinery sales and servicing with Triggs Chainsaws and Mowers while Dennis stayed with cars and, in 1989, took the Landrover and Lada dealership to Newcastle.
The service centre was moved to Carey Bay way in 1993 with only Triggs Chainsaws and Mowers remaining at 36 Victory Parade Toronto.
Once Dennis's decided he'd had enough in Newcastle, he joined wife Alison and Son Gordon at 88 Excelsior Parade, giving away selling cars to concentrate on vehicle repairs and servicing.
The years of experience with 4WD vehicles gives Triggs Motors the edge when it comes to modifications and improvements.
Triggs Motors now welcomes the fourth-generation family members, making Triggs a true family business.
