I agree with readers who have voiced their concerns. My wife and I purchased a home in the Morisset district to get away from suburbia almost 40 years ago.
The Morisset golf club had so many attractions for all ages. Why, then, do we really need 'the city' to encroach on our scenic golf course and neighborhood?
Are we going to permit politicians and council to dictate what's most appropriate for the citizens and ratepayers?

Water authority needed
I AM writing this letter in hope that politicians will do something about securing Australia's water supply. Never mind this agenda of nuclear energy or coal-fired power, our water supply must be the priority.
Farmers have been battling drought conditions for nine years. It's clear that Australia now needs an effective national water authority as our state governments can't do the job.
Australians are sick and tired of our politicians achieving nothing substantial - except selling off our assets.
Meanwhile, our river systems are in a dreadful mess. Australia was the lucky country, but that luck is fast running out.
It's time for politicians to think about Australia first, not their political party.

Time for plastics tax
IN order to effectively confront any problem it is necessary to go to its source. In the case of plastic pollution this is the manufacturer. The gormless nitwit who allows his plastic garbage to escape into the environment can only do so because he has been provided with it. A lot of propaganda has been aimed at convincing the public that it is the end user, rather than the actual producer, who is responsible for litter. It is time for a tax, commensurate with the size of the problem, to be levied on the manufacture and importation of plastic.

Matt Hall our top gun
WELL done Matt Hall. We have another world champion. You need to be congratulated for being an ambassador for the greatest land on earth. If anyone would like to take the ride of their life, contact Matt Hall Racing and his very experienced crew at Belmont airport. Thanks Simo, the memory lives on.

Always next season...
THE naysayers are at it again. True supporters of any sporting team stick with their chosen team through thick and thin. Disappointment often occurs. My advice to complaining so-called Knights' supporters is suck it up and look forward to next season.

We could have had a dam
THE first to feel the bite of water restrictions should be those people who successfully opposed the building of the Tillegra Dam.

Light rail question
I WOULD love to know what the light rail to nowhere is costing the taxpayer. It runs up and down Hunter Street from 5am to 1am every 15 minutes in off peak hours, every 7.5 minutes during peak hours. Couldn't it be cut back to every 30 minutes off peak? Late at night there might be one person on board, unless it's a Friday or Saturday night where it's used as a way to do a pub crawl.

Whale washed up
ONE hopes the whale carcass doesn't end up like the rock on South Newy beach.
