The organisation is run by the Business Growth Centre to provide women of Lake Macquarie with a comfortable and supportive network to develop and grow personally and professionally.
The newly formed sub-committee including Cr Christine Buckley, Michelle McGuinty (vice-president of Lake Macquarie Business) Ann Morris (director) and Barbara Lane (Business Growth Centre manager) has committed to bringing exciting speakers and opportunities to the women in business of Lake Macquarie.
At the relaunch event at Warners Bay on Wednesday, Lake Macquarie mayor Kay Fraser spoke on the perils of women in careers and business.
Brenda Hartmire of the Lakes Mail was among the audience.
Ms Hartmire said working for yourself or within a male-dominated business could be quite isolating for some women in business.
"Many of the attendees at the first revamped Women in Business networking event commented on how nice it was to discuss matters that related to their circumstances," she said.
"It is quite common to find mothers' groups and groups supporting retired ladies, but finding a group that is for women in business is not so common."
She said women appreciated the opportunity to discuss challenges and ideas with women in similar circumstances.
The next event will be held at Brown Sugar, Warners Bay, on December 11. Details on 4942 3133 or email admin@mybgc.org.au.
