The Cooranbong and Martinsville fire brigades will team up this weekend for the NSW Rural Fire Service's annual Get Ready Weekend, which aims to help residents prepare for the bushfire season.

Firefighters from the two brigades will be available to meet and chat with at the Martinsville station from 11am on Sunday, September 15.

Four fire trucks and trail bikes will be on display on the day, the Remote Area Firefighting Team will be on hand to demonstrate how they fight fires in remote and rugged areas, and representatives from National Parks and Wildlife Service and Forestry, plus suppliers of household firefighting items such as pumps, will be available to meet.

A fire-fighting helicopter will also drop in during the day, landing on the oval next to the Martinsville station. There will also be a barbecue and coffee van.

Cooranbong's community engagement officer Claire Porgand said the Get Ready Weekend was a "great opportunity to meet your local firefighters" and see the equipment they use to protect the community from bushfires.

A key message firefighters will be focused on this weekend is 'how fireproof is your plan?'

"Having a bushfire plan in place is really important," Ms Porgand said.

"Firefighters from the two stations will be available to chat with on Sunday about the importance of having a plan, knowing what they'll do in case of a bushfire, and being ready for the bushfire season."
