During the last week or so, I've been fortunate to attend a number of sod turnings and openings for a range of community organisations and businesses. It makes me really excited to see our city progressing with so many new opportunities and businesses popping up across Lake Mac.

One of the really important community assets I had the pleasure of opening was the NSW SES building at Swansea. It was pleasing to see the work that has gone into the facility, especially given that the SES and their volunteers help us during some of the most devastating times that our community faces. The facility itself looks incredible, and I'm positive the staff, volunteers and our community are very happy to see it open.
I also had the chance to get my shovel out and help turn the first sod at the new Woolworths development in Cameron Park. It's a growing area of our city, with a number of young families, so it's great that they will soon have access to a new shopping centre that will include 22 specialty stores.
The new development by Woolworths shows confidence in our city, which will provide both a short and long-term boost to our city's economy. But even more so, having a shopping centre in the growth area of Cameron Park means that the lifestyle of our residents that live there will also be improved for the better. I'm really excited to see what it can become and I'm also thrilled that we will continue to work with Woolworths on the development of a local library in the area.
The final sod turn that had me excited this week was the start of construction on the new Atune Health Centre in Cardiff. Most people will know the building that owner Simon Ashley is refurbishing as the Cardiff squash courts on Macquarie Road. The good news is that Simon is committed to keeping the squash facilities as part of the development.
The development is a wonderful story that has been some nine years in the making. It was fantastic to join Simon, his wife Mel and their family to celebrate. It will be an incredible health facility for our community when complete and add to the health and medical options locally, but also provide an injection into our city's economy and the regionally important North-West Catalyst Area.
We have a really diverse mix of projects and business ventures and it's great to see more and more popping up each week. I'm really excited to see Lake Mac moving forward and the confidence it brings to the whole region.
