According to the Lake Macquarie Historical Society website, it featured a ballroom, about 30 bedrooms, parlours, bar, dining and billiard room.
The hotel opened in 1887 and sits on one of the lake's most important historic sites - that of the old mission houses and homestead of Reverend Lancelot Threlkeld on Mulberry Hill.
Over the years it has been the scene of many special moments ranging from honeymoons, parties, concerts and balls.
Mulberry Hill was home to an orchard featuring many mulberry trees and now lends its name to "The Mulberry" bistro at Toronto Hotel, open weekly on Friday and Saturday nights with bar facilities and a tapas menu.
The Mulberry is also available for functions from birthday parties to weddings.
Drop in any day for a great menu and weeknight specials.
