The iconic Toronto Hotel was once dubbed the 'Riviera of Australia'.
According to the Lake Macquarie Historical Society website, it featured a ballroom, about 30 bedrooms, parlours, bar, dining and billiard room.
The hotel opened in 1887 and sits on one of the lake's most important historic sites - that of the old mission houses and homestead of Reverend Lancelot Threlkeld on Mulberry Hill.
Over the years it has been the scene of many special moments ranging from honeymoons, parties, concerts and balls.
Mulberry Hill was home to an orchard featuring many mulberry trees and now lends its name to "The Mulberry" bistro at Toronto Hotel, open weekly on Friday and Saturday nights with bar facilities and a tapas menu.
The Mulberry is also available for functions from birthday parties to weddings.
Drop in any day for a great menu and weeknight specials.
The Toronto Hotel is about to launch its Entertainment Season for the 2019-20 spring/summer with three fabulous concerts to complement their regular weekly entertainment including the ever popular 'Sunday Sessions' from 1pm, and Friday night music.
On September 29 the Toronto Hotel will host the 'Jets Play Jets' concert, featuring Newcastle legends The Screaming Jets, supported by All Access 80s and Damnation.
After 25 years, Grant Walmsley and Richard Lara have reunited as the original Screaming Jets front guitar force.
As the jetsplayjets.com website says: "From their driving sound to their love of playing guitar, it was this duo that gave the Screaming Jets their undeniable presence in Australian rock music."
On October 12 Toronto Hotel will have Grammy-award winning, international chart topping, British music legend Leo Sayer with his all-star band for a series of special shows.
After a sold-out 2016, 2017 and 2018 UK tours, Leo is touring regional NSW and Victoria and Toronto Hotel will be his fourth location.
The concert will include special guests Roxy, Boney Rivers and Pocket Aces.
