The young cast will join a crew largely made up with young Hunter film-making talent.
The Sydney-based producer of family entertainment films and television shows will shoot I Am Me in Newcastle.
Up-and-coming filmmakers from the Hunter will make up 75 per cent of the production crew. About 1000 children will be part of the national television show.
I Am Me is an exploration of life and the world through the eyes of young people, hosted by magical puppet Dash the Dragon.
The studio is seeking children to be involved in group dancing, play and craft activities during the course of a 2.5 hour session.
I Am Me begins filming on August 12. It will be filmed across five weeks, finishing on September 13.
