SOUTHERN Lakes Rugby Union Club will host its 25th anniversary celebration and Old Boys day when it takes on Newcastle Griffins at Gibson Oval, Morisset, this Saturday, July 27, from 3pm. "We want every player in the last 25 years who has ever put on a Southern Lakes jersey down there cheering on the current team against our great friends at the Newcastle Griffins," a spokesperson for Southern Lakes said.

Funding authorised for Lake Mac events
LAKE Macquarie City Council on Monday authorised funding totalling more than $155,000 to assist 34 community groups to deliver events across the city under the Community Event and Sponsorship Funding scheme. Events funded included Morisset Lake Macquarie Agrcultural Show, Opera Hunter's La Traviata, Sportsfest, The Real Film Festival, Toronto Picnic in the Park, Music in the Podium, and Lake Macquarie Food and Wine Festival.
Charges over riot at juvenile justice centre
POLICE charged five adults and 16 juveniles with riot after a two-day incident at a juvenile justice centre at Kariong, on the Central Coast. About 8pm on Saturday, Northern Region officers responded to a riot within the centre. Just before 5.30pm on Monday, operatives from the Tactical Operations Unit and the Public Order and Riot Squad gained access to the roof of the facility, where the remaining detainees surrendered peacefully, police said.
