Roads and Maritime Services warns of traffic diversion on M1 Pacific Motorway on July 15 ahead of new lane opening

Traffic diversions on Monday night ahead of lane shift on Tuesday

A TRAFFIC diversion scheduled for the M1 Pacific Motorway tomorrow (July 10) has been postponed due to wet weather and will instead come into play on Monday, July 15.

Motorists are advised of the changed traffic conditions on the M1 northbound approaching the service centre as work continues on the upgrade between Tuggerah and Doyalson.

"Work involves removing a temporary diversion currently in place and directing motorists to the left onto the newly-built permanent northbound lanes for about 3.8 kilometres, starting just south of the Alison Road overpass and ending about 1.5 kilometres south of the Sparks Road interchange," a spokesperson for Roads and Maritime Services said.

"Road users will enjoy a smooth ride straight ahead on the newly-built northbound lanes from early Tuesday morning, July 16, weather permitting."

The traffic diversion was originally scheduled for Wednesday, July 10.

Traffic control and a 40kph speed limit will be in place from 8pm on Monday, July 15, up to 4am on the morning of the lane shift.

Speed limits will remain at 80kph outside of night work for the safety of workers and all road users.

"This is the first of a series of upcoming changes in this area which will allow the existing southbound lanes to be improved," the spokesperson said.

More information about these southbound changes will be provided before work is carried out.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and to follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
