Police have charged a man following investigations into the alleged thefts of machinery and tools from construction sites across Lake Macquarie this month. Between Thursday, July 2, and Saturday, July 6, a number of site sheds in Dora Creek, Boolaroo and Mount Hutton were broken into, police said. "Property such as a quad bike, a tipper truck, heavy duty construction tools, large quantities of fuel, and power generators were stolen," a police spokesperson said. "The total property is believed to be worth more than $150,000." Investigations by officers from Lake Macquarie Target Action Group resulted in the arrest on Monday afternoon of a 40-year-old man who was stopped on Albert Street, Warners Bay, in a tipper truck police allege was stolen. He was taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with a total of 15 offences including break and enter, enter enclosed lands, possess housebreaking implements, goods in custody, take and drive conveyance and larceny.
