The NSW Business Chamber's youth initiative, Skillsroad, will visit Tuggerah to host their 'Ultimate Job Hacks Session'.
Young job seekers can chat to Skillsroad's career coaches at the pop-up event to learn more about career choices, get advice on job searching and preparing for interviews, and how to keep motivated throughout their job seeking efforts.
Young people are also encouraged to take a resume to the session for feedback and tips.
Skillsroad is a career advice and jobs platform funded by the NSW Business Chamber as part of its commitment to improving youth employment.
NSW Business Chamber regional director for the Central Coast, Paula Martin, said the innovative program had a team of experts at the helm.
The program was delivered by psychology experts trained to motivate even the most disheartened and disengaged unemployed young people, in addition to those who have been actively job seeking with no luck, she said.
"We are seeing that a lot of young people have either given up on job hunting since they don't know where to start or feel deterred by a lack of response to blanket emails," Ms Martin said.
"There are also a lot of young people in the area who have been looking for a while and just need some extra support for a foot in the door."
Earlier this week
The high rate of youth unemployment on the Central Coast had been a point of ongoing concern, she said.
NSW Business Chamber has been working with business owners, Central Coast Council, Regional Development Australia, the state government, University of Newcastle and local chambers of commerce to explore how best to support local young people on their employment journey.
Skillsroad bringing their youth-focussed career tools to the area, in a relaxed and engaging forum, would help kick-start young job seekers' entry into the workforce, she said.
"The most important step for young people in need of jobs is to pop by and have a chat with a Skillsroad career coach so they can feel inspired about taking the next step towards a rewarding career," Ms Martin said.
"We want to help youth across the Central Coast to put their best foot forward when applying for jobs, and help them to uncover local employment opportunities.
"We also want to speak with the families of unemployed young people, to demonstrate how Skillsroad can provide the level of support they may not have the time or expertise to give to people they care about."
The session will be held on Thursday, July 4, from 4pm to 8pm, at Westfield Tuggerah, next to the centre court escalators on Level 1.
