POLICE are investigating the alleged theft of a John Deere tractor from Morisset Country Club at the weekend. The green tractor, purchased by the club for $36,000, was just three months old. Morisset Country Club board president Erica Ford said it appeared the tractor had been removed through gates between the seventh and eighth greens, fronting Wyee Road. Arrangements had been made to transfer the lease for the tractor to Toronto Workers Club, Ms Ford said. Phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Movement at Morisset Country Club late at night
THE future of Morisset Country Club is no clearer, although fencing has been erected on part of the property, and locals reported seeing surveyors working in the car park late on Thursday night. A spokesperson for the owner, Drysdale Metals, said: "The fencing has been erected as the site is now private property. There have been, and will continue to be, various consultants assessing the site as Drysdale Metals considers next options for the property." The club closed and ceased trading on May 26.
