Shortly after 1pm on Monday two residents of a home on Anzac Parade, Toronto, said they returned to find a man ransacking their residence.
Upon being disturbed, the man ran from the location allegedly dropping stolen items as he went.
Police were called and established a perimeter in an attempt to locate the man. A police dog tracked the alleged offender into a nearby creek.
Officers commandeered a boat and managed to locate the man lying down in the mangroves in an apparent attempt to camouflage himself.
Officers arrested the 22-year-old man. He was taken to Toronto police station where he was charged with break and enter.
He was refused bail and will appear in Toronto Local Court on Tuesday.
