CURRENT Central Coast councillor and former two-time Gosford City mayor Chris Holstein has received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Mr Holstein, the deputy mayor of Central Coast Council, was honoured for his service to local government and to the community of Gosford.
Mr Hosltein was a Gosford councillor from 1991 to 2012. He was elected to Central Coast Council in 2017.
Mr Holstein was also the state MP for Gosford from 2011 to 2015, and was a former representative of Central Coast Regional Development Corporation, and the Central Coast Tourism Board.
Jack McNaughton from Marks Point received an OAM for service to the community through charitable organisations. He has been associated with Australian Business Volunteers for more than 20 years and completed five assignments in Vanuatu, Western Samoa and East Timor as a volunteer builder.
Brenda Booth, of Woy Woy, was honoured for service to community health.
Gosford's Patsy Edwards was praised for service to veterans and their families.
Denise Lawrence's service to music education was recognised. A founding member of the Australian Strings Association, Ms Lawrence, of the Central Coast, has been a cello teacher for 50 years.
Dr Michael Scobie was awarded an OAM for service to ophthalmology, and to the community.
Central Coast resident Karin McGann was praised for service through Lions Clubs Australia.
The Newcastle Herald reports Bill McDonald's history of providing financial support to Hunter charities and not-for-profit organisations landed him a Medal of the Order of Australia.
Mr McDonald was also recognised for providing long-term jobs and education through building industry cadetships to youth in the Hunter and Sydney.
Mr McDonald, who has been the managing director of building company McDonald Jones Homes since 1987, said he was "deeply humbled and grateful for this award".
Mr McDonald launched the McDonald Jones Charitable Foundation in 2012.
