It will be a fun night and a great opportunity to raise some money for the athletes and their families that pay their own way to the games. The Hunter Academy of Sport does a fantastic job each year with the trivia night, but also with managing the athletes itinerates. The games are an opportunity for the kids to get invaluable experience travelling to compete in another country, where they learn about competing in their sport and make some incredible friendships.
Team Lake Mac flies out to the International Children's Games in early July. The team needs all our support, so if you would like to make a donation or just send a message of support, please get in contact with me.
Our city is well known for hosting some significant community, regional and state events. This weekend, we add another feather to our cap with the inaugural Belmont Beers, Blues and BBQ festival. It's from at the Belmont South Foreshore from 5-11pm on Saturday, May 25.
It will be a celebration of craft beer, live music and succulent food straight off the barbecue. It's something a little different on our annual events calendar that is sure to generate some excitement and offer something to do after dark.
I have no doubt it will provide a great atmosphere and I am very keen to help out with the meet the brewer event.
I am told tickets will be available online right up until the event starts, so if you find yourself looking for something to fill your Saturday evening, make sure you come and join us. More details are available at lakemac.com.au/belmontbbb
Before the Belmont BBB, I'll be heading out to Cooranbong Park to see the conclusion of stage 3 of Port to Port. It's a thrilling four-day mountain bike race held at four locations across the Hunter. I'm thrilled Lake Macquarie is hosting two stages, bringing competitors and their families from across NSW to the Hunter. If you are into your mountain biking, it's definitely worth getting out to take a look.
I can't wait to see everyone out and about enjoying our city. For more about what's on, visit lakemac.com.au/whatson
