Now, thanks to Simply Pharmacy, customers can get these medicines made on-site in Toronto.
Simply Pharmacy's new compounding laboratory, staffed by fully qualified technicians, are able to make up medicines that customers were previously travelling many kilometres for.
"We amalgamated with the chemist across the road which had a compounding lab and have set up a compounding lab in the Simply store which enables us to create medicines not commercially available onsite for patients who use to have to travel as far away as Hamilton to get," Simply Pharmacy owner and chief pharmacist Sam Zoghbi said.
"We can now compound onsite medicines for hormone replacement, weight loss, special pain therapy medications, sleep hygiene tablets and special medicines for babies, which is a great benefit for the community because it minimises travel and customers get a quality product."
Turnaround can be same day depending on availability of product, or generally next day in most circumstances, Mr Zoghbi said.
Simply Pharmacy is a true community pharmacy established in Toronto since 2005 and part of an eight-store chain across NSW.
With a regular week-day team of two pharmacists on duty, plus weekend staff, Simply Pharmacy serves the local community by providing a responsible, reliable and complete pharmacy experience.
"That includes all normal medication and prescription services, vitamins, health and beauty products," Mr Zoghbi said. "Plus we also provide aged care services and health checks like glucose testing and blood pressure monitoring.
"We message customers when the medicines are ready, we do medication counselling and reviews in store or at home and provide free home service delivery for those with mobility issues. We also do Webster packs and flu vaccinations and can provide medical certificates and Justice of the Peace services."
On top of it's new compounding service and general community pharmacy services, Simply Pharmacy Toronto produces its own range of medicines including:
- Magnesium to prevent cramps
- Mouth ulcer numbing gels
- Specialised pain medicines including PEA (Palmitoylethanolamide) a natural pain killer
- Anti-inflammatory creams good for arthritis, lower back pain,
- Travel sickness pills
"Our latest service is sleep apnoea testing," Mr Zoghbi said. "Customers come in and we wire them up, they go home and have a sleep and come back to us with their data which we send off to the specialists who determine if they have apnoea - if they do we sell the machines and mask."
