I wish everyone a happy and safe Easter and if you're travelling please take care on our roads, particularly with more children about.
Personally, I'm hoping we have some clear weather for the weekend because I am looking forward taking my dog for a few walks around the lake and spending time with my beautiful grandchildren.
Fingers crossed that the Easter bunny also makes it to my place.

Work on projects
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been getting out and visiting some of the projects that council staff have been undertaking across our city. I get really excited visiting the construction sites and seeing the amount of work that is happening. I would like to congratulate our people on the many hours they are putting in to deliver some key projects for Lake Macquarie.
Some of the projects underway at the moment include the shared path between Speers Point and Glendale, the redevelopment of the art gallery, the completion of the new playground at Killingworth (pictured), the new amenities building at Caves Beach and the Toronto Swim Centre redevelopment. It is definitely a diverse mix of projects and something we should be very proud of.
In particular, the Killingworth playground at the Park Street Reserve is a great addition to the community. It was wonderful to see the smiling faces as the kids slid, climbed and swung at the official opening last week. I have no doubt that the children of Killingworth and their parents will get years of enjoyment from the playground, which is proudly part of $4 million worth of playground upgrades Council is carrying out in 2018-19.
Another one of my favourite projects is the new Caves Beach amenities. It has taken longer than expected, but I walked through the construction site recently and I was very impressed by the facilities for people with disabilities, as well as the work happening to improve the landscaping and space adjacent to the Caves Beach Surf Life Saving Club. The amenities are expected to be completed in the next couple of months.
