Martin, 17, was first on floor at the recent state trials, earning an impressive 13.1 (out of a possible score of 15) from the judges.
"I went really well: 13s aren't common, so 13.1 was an excellent score," Martin said.
The teenager is a Level 8 gymnast, meaning she competes at the elite level.
She trains under Nance Foster at her Advance Academy of Gymnastics, in Toronto.
The pair goes way back.
"I started when I was 4, and Nance was in Morisset Memorial Hall as KWK Gym back then," Martin said.
Martin trains four days a week, but also excels in athletics. She qualified to compete in the Little Athletics state championships in high jump, but the date of that event clashed with the gymnastics state trials, and gymnastics won out.
The state championships will be held at Sydney Gymnastics Centre.
