DORA Creek will host Waratah Mayfield at Neville Thompson Oval at 3pm this Saturday in a Round 2 fixture of the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League A-grade rugby league premiership. The Swampies are coming off a 20-4 win over Dudley in the season opener at Dudley Oval on Friday night. Dora Creek led 10-nil at the break. Second-half tries to Kye Howarth and Chris Malborough sealed it.

Macquarie to travel for league opener
MACQUARIE Scorpions will travel to take on Kurri Kurri in the opening round of the Newcastle Rugby League premiership this Saturday. The Scorpions are eager to shed their wooden spoon of 2018.
Among their new recruits are hooker Liam Higgins (Queensland Cup), forward Ben Roose (South Newcastle), Bobby Treacy (NSW Cup), and Cody Robbins (Lakes), while centre Royce Geoffrey (Cessnock) has returned to the club. Former Newcastle Knights premiership winner Daniel Abraham, 38, will lace up the boots again.
Macquarie's losses include Scott Briggs, Todd Hurrell, Tye Alchin, Nick Worthington (Lakes) and Kyle Eather (injured).
Toronto Awaba success
TORONTO Awaba Football Club welcomed a large crowd at Lyall Peacock Field on Wednesday night to witness their 5-1 win over Westlakes in Round 3 of soccer's FFA Cup. The win also secured the John Beguin Shield for the home team. Toronto Awaba will travel to Blacksmiths Oval to take on Belmont Swansea in the New-FM Northern League One competition this Sunday, with kick-off at 2.45pm.
