A BODY was found after a house fire at Barnsley on Monday night. Emergency services were called to Macquarie Street after a neighbour noticed a house on fire about 11.15pm. Fire and Rescue NSW officers discovered the body after they extinguished the blaze about midnight. Police have been told a 23-year-old man lived in the home; he has not been accounted for. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the identity of the deceased as well as the cause of death. Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.

Action on dementia
THE Central Coast Dementia Alliance Steering Committee had its Community Action Plan officially recognized by Dementia Australia. The Central Coast will be included on map of dementia-friendly communities. In addition, Westfield Tuggerah has been trialing a Quiet Hour with dimmed lights and music and carpark attendants to make the centre more dementia-friendly. The final Quiet Hour of the trial will be held on Tuesday, April 16, from 10:30am - 11:30am.
Celebrating our youth
CENTRAL Coast Council will celebrate National Youth Week 2019 with a range of events for the next generation of leaders to be inspired and heard. Celebrations will kick off with a free family celebration at Canton Beach Foreshore on Sunday, April 7. CALM in Bonnells Bay centre
COMMUNITY Activities Lake Macquarie (CALM) has been awarded a lease a Bonnells Bay Youth and Community Centre by Lake Macquarie City Council. Council called for expressions of interest in December 2018 and received three applications. CALM will relocate its family support team to the centre to provide support to families and children.
Financial assistance
Lake Macquarie City Council has resolved to provide financial assistance to two clubs at its Monday night meeting. Rathmines Memorial Bowling Club will receive $2000 to refurbish its main flagpole, while the Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise will receive $370 to cover the cost of the hire of Bolton Point Community Hall for a fundraising event in support of NSW farmers as part of the Rotary Australia Drought Relief Fund.
