The work is part of the M1 Pacific Motorway upgrade between Tuggerah and Doyalson.
Work on the next stage of the Sparks Road bridge widening will involve joining together the decks of the existing bridge and new bridge with concrete.
"A single-lane closure of Sparks Road at the bridge will be required and motorists may be stopped for up to five minutes," a spokesperson for the RMS said.
"One lane on the Sparks Road bridge will be operating under traffic control with alternating traffic in both directions from 3pm on Saturday, April 6, to 3am on Monday, April 8, weather permitting."
Traffic lights at the west side of the Sparks Road bridge will flash amber with traffic control and a 40kph speed limit will be in place on Sparks Road near the bridge.
The existing 80kph speed limit will remain in place on the M1 Pacific Motorway.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
"Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this time," the spokesperson said.
