THE NSW Rural Fire Service has declared an end to the statutory bushfire danger period in the Central Coast District. It means from Monday, April 1, fire permits are no longer required for the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie local government areas. Locals must still abide by the law when conducting hazard reduction burns. That includes notifying neighbours and the local fire authority 24 hours before burning. Information stalls help spread word
TORONTO Area Sustainability Group has had such outstanding success in helping businesses and households to reduce their reliance on single-use plastic products that it is taking to the streets to pass on more tips. The group will have information available for locals on Monday, April 8, at Morisset Square from 3pm to 5pm; on Wednesday, April 10, at Toronto Woolworths from 2.30pm to 4.30pm; and at the same location on Thursday, April 11, from 3pm to 5pm, and Saturday, April 13, from 9am to noon.
Local tourism operators urged to enter awards
LOCAL tourism operators are being encouraged to seize the opportunity for business recognition at the 2019 NSW Tourism Awards. Managed by the Tourism Industry division of the NSW Business Chamber in partnership with Destination NSW, the annual NSW Tourism Awards celebrate tourism excellence across the state. The awards feature 28 categories, capturing a range of tourism services including major tourist attractions, festivals and events, tourism restaurants and catering services, and food tourism.
