Susan McBride, the captain of the Toronto Awaba 'Sheilas' (a name the girls have given themselves), said the club welcomed players of all experience and fitness levels.
They are particularly keen to score a goal keeper.
"It's really about coming along and having a try," McBride said.
"We train on Wednesdays at 6pm and work through some basic moves and rules but it's not about being the best player on the field, this is also a chance to be part of a team that works together.
"We also have some fun and keep fit."
Coach Rachel Ralph said the Sheilas had players aged from 16 to over 50, with various experience levels.
"There is plenty of time to train to work on basics and fitness no matter if you're a new or returning player," Ralph said.
"We have several new players this year, many of the team are mums and there are often kids kicking their own smaller balls around at training."
Player Bianca Newby said she loved being on the field.
"It's about the freedom of playing as well as being part of a team. I like mixing with different people of all ages, and helping the newer players," she said.
"We also have a mother and daughter who play with us, and that's fantastic."
The team competes in H-Grade, and plays other women's teams from the local region in Sunday morning matches.
There is a one-off registration and sign-up fee.
