The essential maintenance work will be carried out at night between 7pm and 5am on the southbound carriageway between Bushells Ridge Road and Wallarah Creek Interchange.
Roads and Maritime Services will carry out the work, which includes concrete pavement strengthening and asphalt resurfacing.
The work will start on Monday, April 1, and is expected to be completed in three months, weather permitting.
No work will be carried out over the Easter period from Thursday, April 18, to Monday, April 22, or on Anzac Day, Thursday, April 25.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40kph will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists should allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time and are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Motorists should also continue to be aware of the existing reduced 80kph speed limit between Tuggerah and Doyalson, with lanes and road shoulders narrowed due to safety barriers.
