Art gallery to close for makeover
LAKE Macquarie City Art Gallery will be closed from April 1 to early September while it undergoes a $2.3-million transformation.The redevelopment will see the creation of more exhibition space, and a dedicated Aboriginal gallery. More solar panels and a new air-conditioning plant will also be added to the building. The Sculpture Park and Awaba House Restaurant and Cafe will remain open during construction. Students vow to strike again
HUNTER and Central Coast students have vowed to keep striking from school until the government takes action on climate change. Hundreds of people attended a student-run protest at Gosford on Friday, and a midday rally and march in Civic Park, Newcastle. A spokesperson for the Central Coast strike said among the participants at Gosford were students from Northlakes High School, Lakes Grammar School, and Mackillop Catholic College. Students in more than 80 countries were expected to strike.

CENTRAL Coast Council is now officially a 'Small Business Friendly Council,' partnering with Service NSW to deliver its 'Easy to do Business' program in the region. The program dramatically eases the regulatory burden for current and new businesses by cutting through red tape with numerous agencies at all levels of government. "I'm really pleased that we can bring this smart and innovative program to the Central Coast", mayor Jane Smith said. She encouraged businesses to use the free program.
