Voting is compulsory, so voters who cannot get to a voting station on Saturday are advised to vote in the days leading up to the election at a pre-poll station.
In the Westlakes area of the Lake Macquarie electorate, there are early voting (previously known as pre-polling) centres at Cooranbong Community Services Centre, on Freemans Drive, and above Woolworths, in Toronto, next to the library.
The early voting station at Cooranbong is open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Thursday, and from 8am to 4pm on Friday, March 22.

On Saturday, there will be dozens of voting stations open in Lake Macquarie.

Arcadia Vale Public School, Biraban Public School, Blackalls Park Public School, Bolton Point Community Hall, Bonnells Bay Public School, Booragul Public School, Coal Point Public School, Cooranbong Public School, Dora Creek District School of Performing Arts, Fassifern Public School, Fennell Bay Public School, Kilaben Bay Community Hall, Lake Macquarie City Council, Lakelands Community Hall, Morisset Public School, Rathmines Public School, South Lake Macquarie Amateur Sailing Club, Teralba Public School, Toronto Multi-Purpose Centre, Wangi Wangi Public School, Woodrising Neighbourhood Centre, and Wyee Community Hall.
In the electorate of Swansea - which includes Budgewoi, Buff Point, Halekulani, San Remo, Doyalson, Lake Munmorah and Mannering Park - there will be polling stations at.-
Budgewoi Public School, Buff Point Scout Hall, Chain Valley Bay Community Hall, Gwandalan Community Centre, Halekulani Recreation Hall, Lake Munmorah Public School, Mannering Park Community Centre, and Summerland Point Community Hall.
There are early voting centres at Blue Haven Community Hall, and Toukley Presbyterian Church.
