It has taken a little more time than expected and some very hard work to get the project completed, but I am glad to say that it is a vast improvement on what was previously there.
I am positive we will see a number of locals and visitors test out the ramp, which is now safer and more accessible.
It is projects like this one, that remind me how important infrastructure assets, no matter how simple they may seem, are to our local boaties and visitors.
So I appreciate the patience of users throughout the construction process.
Another couple of projects in this category for me that council is working on are the new amenities buildings at both Belmont Baths and Caves Beach.
Both projects have attracted significant interest from our community and it’s easy to understand why.
Belmont baths amenities is the second stage of works at the baths and includes an accessible change room, aquatic wheelchair storage and foreshore landscaping works.
The old toilet block has been demolished and construction on the new facility is on track to be completed around the middle of this year.
At Caves Beach, the amenities building is also under construction with works expected to be completed in May this year.
The building is starting to take shape, with the frame now up and work starting on the roof.
I am very happy to see facilities get underway and I have no doubt they will be much utilised and appreciated for years to come.
These are just three of the many wonderful projects that the council has planned for this year.
In the coming months you may see further works start on a range of playgrounds, pathways and roads.
On our west work continues on the major renovation of Toronto Swim Centre, which is expected to be completed by mid-2019.
While the approvals process remains ongoing for the rejuvenation of Rathmines Community Hall.
We hope to start construction on the internal refurbishment of the hall in mid-2019.
I encourage you to find out more information about all of these projects by visiting lakemac.com.au/city/works
