THERE will be live music, free meditation, interactive workshops and kids’ planting activities on the Toronto foreshore this Friday night when Lake Macquarie City Council hosts a free ‘Picnic in the Park’ from 5.30 to 7.30pm. Locals are encouraged to take a rug or camping chairs along and enjoy a picnic or barbecue with family and friends. Local Earthen Rhythms African Drumming will give an interactive performance, and there will be story time sessions for children.

HSC work in the holidays
THE University of Newcastle will run a series of subject-specific HSC seminars in March to help prepare both parents and students for the year ahead. The Kickstart Seminars will give students a detailed understanding of what HSC markers are looking for, strategies for success, key syllabus content and much more. Apply now for NAIDOC funding
LAKE Macquarie City Council is offering community groups, not-for-profit organisations, agencies and schools, grants to help fund projects or events during NAIDOC Week, from July 7 to 14. Last year, council assisted 17 NAIDOC Week events and programs.
