Entertainment will start at 5.30pm with live music, and children's activities including a circus workshop and football skills.
The screen will light up for the feature movie once the sun sets.
Entry is free and locals are encouraged to take picnic rugs and picnics, or purchase food and non-alcoholic drinks at the event.
Newcastle Permanent's acting CEO, Mark Williams, said, the organisation was looking forward to the night.
“We understand how much our communities throughout NSW look forward to our Cinema Under the Stars events, and as a customer-owned organisation it is just one of the many ways we’re giving back to communities that support us," Mr Williams said.
“Since 2008, Newcastle Permanent’s Cinema Under the Stars has brought families and communities together by providing free outdoor cinema events across regional NSW, and our first ever event in Lake Macquarie is expected to attract 4,000 people."
The feature musical acts will be Kid on Congas, Laura Zarb and Adrianna Mac Trio.
