Council’s ageing and disabilities services community planner Jennifer Linton-Webb said people could make a big difference in their community.
“Taking 10 minutes out of your week to help a neighbour put out their bins or maintain their nature strip or garden could make a world of difference in their lives,” Ms Linton-Webb said.
“Over the next 18 years, the number of people aged 65 years and over is expected to grow from 44,263 people to almost 60,000 people and more people in our community will rely on the kindness of neighbours to help with these household tasks.
“Helping others brings many positive benefits to your mental health and wellbeing, and creates a sense of belonging.”
