They are among a raft of fun new competitions designed to engage the show’s growing audience at Morisset Showground.
Show president Justin Rumore said the young farmer’s challenge had already attracted plenty of interest.
He likened it to an obstacle course for farmers.
“It’s for teams of four people – ideally two men and two women, aged 18 to 35 – who will be given tasks such as moving bails of hay, and erecting a fence,” he said.
Several teams had already entered, and teams would be welcome to enter on the day, he said.
Making news:
The master bake-off will see an array of cakes and other baked treats judged by CWA members who will assess the items while the crowd watches and listens to their judgements.
A talent quest will be held on the main stage on Sunday. There are categories for entrants aged 12 years and younger, 12 to 15 years, and 16 years and older.
“There will also be new and exciting shows and exhibits including the Kate Clancy Horse Show, sheep shearing, fire-lit whip cracking, chainsaw carving, a ute and car show, and a motorbike show,” Mr Rumore said.
“We’re calling Sunday ‘fun day’ and one of the new events will be a high jump competition for dogs.
“People can bring their dog along on the day and enter. There are four categories, to cater for every size of dog. So if you have a sausage dog, you can bring him along and there’s a category to suit.”
Mr Rumore said the growth of the show in recent years had helped to expand the program to provide something for everyone in the family.
Tradition had not been forgotten, either, he said.
“The old favourites are back.”
They include the wood chopping, equestrian events, and Saturday night rodeo.
The wife carrying competition will return, with locals Adam Cullen and Tylee Robinson out to defend their Morisset title.
There will be added amusement rides, more food vendors and water stations, and live music over both days of the show, Mr Rumore said.
