SATURDAY, February 9, will mark the sixth anniversary for the Lake Mac parkrun at Booragul. Event director Jason Becker said there would be a back-to-school dress-up theme, and Wangi Men's Shed would cook up a post-run barbecue with all funds raised going to Cure Cancer Australia. The run starts at 8am and organisers are hoping to break the 600 mark for participants. Numbers have grown since it began in 2013 with Mr Becker reporting attendance hovering between 380 and 420 on a weekly basis now. Meanwhile, the Maximum Adventure Race Series will return to the shores of Lake Macquarie on Saturday, February 16, launching from Cams Wharf. The race combines mountain biking, trail running and kayaking.
