Toronto Workers to host Merewether in Newcastle district cricket match at Ron Hill Oval starting this Saturday, January 12

TORONTO Workers will host Merewether in Round 5 of the Newcastle District Cricket Association two-day competition at Ron Hill Oval on Saturday.

It will be the first hit-out for all teams after the Christmas break.

Fifth-placed Toronto is coming off a 34-run loss to Waratah in the Round 4 match which concluded on December 22.

Responding to Waratah’s first innings total of 181, the Kookaburras were bowled out for 147. Captain Adrian Chad scored 47, and opening batsman Corey Brown made 29.

Five of the Toronto wickets – including the first four wickets to fall – went to leg-before-wicket decisions.

Third-placed Merewether earned 10 points with their outright win over Belmont in their last match.

In the Central Coast District Cricket Association competition, Northern Power will begin a two-day fixture against Terrigal at Duffys Road.

Eight-placed Northern Power is coming of a Twenty-20 win over Brisbane Water last Saturday.
