The volunteers contribute to the care and services provided to residents at the village.
The volunteers support staff in a variety of ways, including assisting with outings, helping with activities and, most importantly, spending time with residents.
All 25 volunteers shared a three-course meal with residents and certificates were presented in recognition of the outstanding service they have provided.
Lake Haven Masonic Village leisure and lifestyle manager Leanne Gallagher said it was nice to thank the volunteers in style.
“Our volunteers are such special people with big hearts,” Ms Gallagher said.
“They are a really valued part of our team and I know our residents are extremely grateful for the time they spend here.”
Several volunteers said that by giving their time in the village, they were also giving back to themselves.
They said they’d found a sense of belonging since volunteering at the village. All said they found the experience fulfilling.
“I’m overwhelmed to be so appreciated for simply doing something that I love,” said Pam, a volunteer at the village.
Sammy, another volunteer, had a similar view: “It’s always fun to work here and I feel like part of the team who work together in a happy environment.”
More volunteers are always welcome.
