There may not have been reindeer but the appearances of a baby alpaca, Santa and gospel singer Francine Bell brought delight to those who attended Toronto’s Carols by Lake 2018 festivities on Saturday.

The day kicked off with market stalls and performances from community groups and featured a midday appearance from Santa himself.
The Oakvale Petting Zoo was a hit, with young and old getting a chance get up close baby animals before the evening concert.
By evening a sea of families on picnic blankets covered the Toronto Foreshore for the carols concert, kicked off by Blackalls Park School Band and starring popular gospel singer Francine Bell.
Santa once again made an appearance to the crowd’s delight, arriving on a fire truck and handing out lollies to children while Lake Macquarie Police Boys band closed out the musical entertainment for the evening.
A small but entertaining light show was also a hit with the crowd.
