Cooranbong Business and Community Alliance recently installed a framed information board in the park featuring historical images and information panels on some of the town’s places of interest including the old saw mill, courthouse, racecourse and police station.
“We wanted something the acknowledge Cooranbong’s rich history as the oldest established town in Lake Macquarie,” the Alliance’s Peter Trimmer said.
Alliance treasurer Ray Boehm hatched the board concept, but said research and design input from Cath Duffy, Frances Dunn and Heather Dixon helped to bring the idea to fruition. The board was funded by a state government grant of $3500.
