One aim of the show is to help the owners of the items to sell them for top dollar.
The production team behind Road to Riches is keen to hear from Lake Macquarie residents who would like to be on the program.
Road to Riches will be screening on Foxtel Australia, and on the Discovery Channel in the UK.
It is hosted by former Aussie Picker, Lucas Callaghan, who has so far travelled from Wagga Wagga to Mudgee and Merriwa on the back of his vintage motorcycle to seek out people’s prized possessions.
Publicist for the program, Matilda Teernstra, said the show aimed to make a pretty penny for the owner of each item.
“It’s an antiques program with a difference,” Ms Teernstra said.
“Rather than picking items for himself, Lucas is looking to uncover vintage treasures in people's homes and find the right specialists to generate the best sale price directly for their owners.”
Research suggests every Australian home has around $5000 of unwanted stuff just waiting to be sold, she said.
“Already, Lucas has uncovered some amazing finds in the sheds, spare rooms, and attics of everyday Australians, ready to be brought back to life and sold.”
Highlights so far include a jaw-dropping collection of Star Wars memorabilia, rare and pristine rugby caps dating back to 1874, hundreds of vintage board games, genuine Rolexes, Penfolds Grange, vintage cars, furniture and all manner of knick-knacks.
“We’re looking for everyday Australians who are keen to flip their vintage treasures for the best price possible,” Ms Teernstra said.
“From the smallest knick-knacks to the largest and rarest collections - we want to hear the stories behind the stuff.”
Anyone who wants to be on the show can phone 8568 3100 or email riches@essential.media with their name and location, and a description and/or photos of their items.
The Road to Riches team will be in Lake Macquarie from Monday, December 10.
How long they stay in the city depends on how many homes and items they have to investigate.
