Presented by performers aged 8 to 18, the show is an adaptation of book #44 of Mary Pope Osborne’s award-winning fantasy adventure books from the Magic Tree House series.
Be transported back to the beautiful foggy streets of Victorian London as the magic tree house whisks Jack and Annie back in time to meet the famous author, Charles Dickens, who has a severe case of writer’s block.
Jack and Annie also witness the hardships faced by the poor, and their efforts to help only land them in prison.
Mr Dickens rescues Jack and Annie and they, in turn, help him escape the sad memories that haunt him. In the process, they inspire Mr Dickens to write one of the greatest holiday stories of all time.
“Throughout the course of the show we learn the importance of charity and kindness through friendship and understanding,” the theatre group’s Amanda Daniel said.
“What perfect things to reflect upon this Christmas season.”
The musical was a fantasy adventure filled with songs and dances to celebrate the magic of Christmas, she said.
“It’s a unique twist on a famous holiday tale, great for the entire family, and a perfect start to the festive season.”
The show will be staged at Wyong Grove Theatre (formerly Wyong Grove Public School), on North Road.
There will be 10 performances from December 7 to December 16, with matinee and evening performances.
